Getting Better

During training we did the usual: do some shots, individual activities, sometimes serve, and then play.
The last time I did shots, the coach told me to start doing them with my hand open. A couple weeks earlier I started passing them with my first, but apparently I had proven I knew the steps well enough to start trying with an open hand. This week I tried doing them just like the coach instructed, and the passing rate dropped considerably. I didn't care about it too much. During the games, I am in position 1 or 4 and 5. Position 1 doesn't do the shots much. Position 3 and 4 does by volleyball rules, but since the placer knows I'm still practicing, position 3 gets the balls placed.
After a while of shots, the coach told us to play a game: we'd do serves, but the ball had to land at specific places in the field (marked by objects such as cones or bottles) and it had to be overhead. Just like I predicted, not one overhead serve of mine passed (very few people hit the marks, anyways); however, I did improve my skills.
During the 2nd hour I got assigned a partner activity: do 200 low hits. My partner and I know very well how to do the low hits, so it was more like a one-on-one game for us. Though, I surprised myself when I realized I was able to place the ball to myself when I received it too high and pass it with a low hit.
