Halloween

A few posts ago I am pretty sure I made a comment about new people joining the team. If I didn't, then there are about 3 new girls and 4 new boys. One of the girls has been practicing placing the ball.

The way she practices is when the rest of us are assigned to do shots. We toss her the ball, she places the ball in position so we can do the shot, and done. That's how I learned it takes 2 people to do a proper shot: the placer has to make sure the ball is just above the net and the player that takes the shot has to be able to do the steps.

This is the story: because we have a new placer, she has to learn how to place it properly, depending our heights and knowledge of the shots. I am decent at doing them, they don't do the loud banging noise when they hit the floor, but they don't go so soft they go unnoticed, either. I didn't pass the first couple, until the coach reminded her that the ball should go high and in position number 4. When that came out perfectly, my shots were personally way better.

On Wednesday not many of us attended the class. It was after school, Halloween, we could skip the school day. Therefore, the coach gave us individual activities. As for me, I helped a friend inflate some volleyballs that had gone softer than usual. Then, I did some work with a basketball for strength, and we played a lot.

On Friday we trained purely for ASOMEX, a volleyball tournament that will take place in January. We practiced serving from the top (I need to practice a lot, but my serving from below is almost guaranteed it'll pass), blocking, and the positions to take when we receive a shot.
